Dr. Rui DeMelo,
D.P.M, AACFAS

Dr. Rui DeMelo was raised in Westchester County, New York. He graduated from Manhattan College in the Bronx, New York with a Bachelor of Science Degree in Nuclear Medicine Technology. Afterwards, he attended New York College of Podiatric Medicine where he graduated top of his class with a Degree in Doctor Podiatric Medicine.

Dr. DeMelo did his foot and ankle surgical residency at Saint Vincent's Catholic Medical Centers in New York. Currently he's a staff member at Stamford Hospital in Connecticut. He achieved board qualification with the American College of Foot and Ankle Surgeons in 2003.

Dr. DeMelo speaks fluent Portuguese and Spanish and is a member of various societies including the American Podiatric Medical Association, Connecticut Podiatric Medical Association, American Diabetes Association and is an Associate of the American College of Foot and Ankle Surgeons.

   


Dr. Michael Sabia,
D.P.M, AACFAS

Dr. Michael L. Sabia, Jr. has been practicing with this office since 1971, and is a lifelong resident of Stamford. He did his undergraduate work at Windham College in Vermont, graduated from Pennsylvania College of Podiatric Medicine, and did his residency training at Guiffrie Medical Center in Philadelphia, PA. He is currently board certified in the American Board of Podiatric Orthopedics & Primary Podiatric Medicine as well as the American Council of Certified Podiatric Physicians & Surgeons.

He has been active in The Connecticut Podiatric Medical Association since 1971 holding many committee chairs culminating with the office of President in 1987. He is a member of the American Podiatric Medical Association and has represented Connecticut in several national legislative meetings. He has lectured locally and at national podiatry meetings.

In addition to his interested in podiatric surgery and orthopedics, he has been active in the sports medicine field, and is a founding fellow of the American Podiatric Sports Medicine Association. He has been involved in several research projects and has published papers in national podiatry publications. In the past he has tested ski boots for Head Ski Co. and more recently has been consulting with Consumer Reports on several projects involving performances of walking shoes and hiking boots.

   

Dr. Marissa Girolamo, D.P.M, FACFAS

Dr. Marissa Girolamo was raised in Westchester County, New York. She graduated from the State University of New York at Albany with a Bachelor of Science Degree in Biology and Chemistry. Afterwards, she received her Doctor of Podiatric Medicine from Temple University School of Podiatric Medicine in 1999.

Dr. Girolamo completed her residency in foot and ankle surgery at Oakwood Downriver Medical Center in Michigan and joined Stamford Podiatry Group, P.C. in 1991. She achieved Board Certification with the American Board of Podiatric Surgery in 2005.

Currently, Dr. Girolamo is Chief of Podiatry at Stamford Podiatry and a Fellow of the American College of Foot and Ankle Surgeons. She is also a member of the American Podiatric Medical Association, Connecticut Podiatric Medical Association and the American Association for Women Podiatrists.


Dr. Francisco Lago,
D.P.M, AACFAS

Dr. Francisco Lago graduated from Pace University in NYC with a Bachelor of Sciences in Biology. Afterwards he attended New York College of Podiatric Medicine where he graduated top of his class with a degree in Doctor of Podiatric Medicine.

Dr. Lago did a three year foot and ankle surgical residency at Saint Vincent Catholic Medical Centers in New York. He served as Chief Resident his last year. Currently he is a member of the medical staff at Stamford Hospital, St. John's Hospital & Mary Immaculate Hospital.

Dr. Lago is a teaching faculty member of the Saint Vincent Catholic Medical Centers (Brooklyn/Queens Division) Podiatric Residency Program. He achieved his board qualification status with the American Board of Podiatric Surgery in 2002.

Dr. Lago speaks fluent Spanish & Portuguese. He is an active member of the Queens County Podiatric Society, New York State Podiatric Medical Association, American Podiatric Medical Association, and an Associate of the American College of Foot & ankle Surgeons.
